December was an action packed month full of amazing tournaments, and the start of the Winter season.

Congratulations to December’s five athletes who were nominated for Athlete of the Month:

Kareem Abdullah (Senior Basketball)

Cynthia Chen (Girls Basketball)

Thea Nguyen (Wrestling)

Armin Poursarraf (Junior and Senior Basketball)

Ottis Wong (Junior Boys Basketball)

And, finally, congratulations to our two Athletes of the Month for December: Junior AOM, Armin Poursarraf, and Senior AOM, Thea Nguyen!

Armin, a Grade 10 student, exemplifies what it means to be an outstanding student-athlete. A top-level player on both the junior and senior basketball teams, he has shown unwavering commitment to the sport since Grade 8. Known for his exceptional all-around skills—offense, defense, fitness, and work ethic—Armin consistently delivers elite performances, averaging over 20 points per game while taking on the toughest defensive assignments. Beyond his impressive stats, Armin is a true leader who uplifts his teammates with positivity and resilience, even in challenging moments. His dedication is unmatched, attending practices for multiple teams and club basketball daily, demonstrating discipline and passion that inspire everyone around him. Armin’s humility, sportsmanship, and team-first mentality make him a role model and a deserving recipient of this honor. Congratulations, Armin!

With unanimous support from both wrestling coaches and both team managers, Thea has earned this recognition through hard work, dedication, and remarkable improvement from last season. She has shown up to every practice, competed with intensity, and consistently encouraged her teammates, embodying the true spirit of sportsmanship. Her efforts have translated into outstanding results: across two tournaments and two meets, Thea has achieved an incredible record of 13 wins and just 1 loss - placing 1st in both meets, claiming gold at the Pinetree Tournament, and earning a silver medal at the Island Tournament. Her commitment, resilience, and team-first attitude make her a deserving Athlete of the Month. Congratulations, Thea!
